So I want to take this opportunity to talk a little bit about a cause that is very close to us. Pediatric Stroke Awareness. Many of you are aware that Mae suffered a stroke at birth which left her with a brain injury. This brain injury has resulted in a lifetime of hurdles that our little girl will be forced to endure. There is no doubt in my mind that she won't be fine. In the 2.5 years or so that I have come to know her I can truly say that she is so smart, so special, and so determined to get past those hurdles. She doesn't know any better. She has grown and learned to get by with limited use of her left side. With therapy we hope to strengthen and work with the left side so that there is negligible difference. I'm not sure it will ever get that far, but we will help her to work at it.
If you just met Mae and didn't know she had Cerebral Palsy you probably would have no idea by looking at her that she did. She is very active and has a very mild case compared to some. I'm writing this because we received a very special package today. We got 3 shirts from the Pediatric Stroke Warriors to help create awareness and hope.
You can see Mae's name in the white part right in the bottom of the purple ribbon. It's alphabetical order so check it out. She is in good company with all of these fellow warriors.
Many of you know we absolutely love this organization and they have been a great resource and partner for us. For every Berry Popsicle candle we sell, we give a wristband that helps raise awareness and also donate $1 to the Pediatric Stroke Warriors.
Please, if you have a minute visit them at pediatricstrokewarriors.org and facebook.com/pediatricstrokewarriors.
Help us spread the word because we had NO IDEA A KID COULD HAVE A STROKE.
