After a long day of working at the vet I made the long trek home to take care of the animals before bed. Dan has his hands full getting Mae taken care of so I just get everyone tucked away with a head lamp and my bright headlights on the car. Ozzie our silkie rooster followed me into the chicken pen a few days ago and is now acting like he has always gotten along with everyone! He had a history of not playing nice but hasn't shown any aggression in a few days so I think he is deciding...

Meet Etta Jo. She is a Nigerian Dwarf cross goat in full milk that we were able to welcome into our farm. We will be introducing her to the other girls over the next few days! This week has been very busy. We are finishing up some candles, salves, and lip balms for our events this weekend. We have launched two new lip balm flavors; Bubble Gum and BubbleMint. I will say the BubbleMint is absolutely my favorite. Starts nice and sweet with a bubbly flavor, and has you thinking for about 2 minutes "where the heck is the mint?"...

Thankfully, even though Mae ended up in the bed at 1, she slept extremely well until almost 7. Thank goodness because between her early morning antics and a super busy day at the vet I was beyond exhausted. Every time we thought we had caught up, another emergency walked in. It's days like that I'm grateful I work with an incredible team of doctors, techs and receptionists. Mae watched Polly Pocket while I got the animals done, tonight will be the night that the newly rescued chickens sleep in the big coop with the rest of the girls. It's always...

Today was a good day. Mae slept well, we all slept well. We woke up about 6, maybe a little after. Morning chores and a breakfast made up of eggs from our girls and cheese and milk from Marilyn, along with scallions from our garden. Very tasty. We all got cleaned up and got dressed for church. Mae loves church. Mostly because she gets to go and play in the playroom for an hour with some of the other kids from church. After church we came back home and had peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for lunch. Then some...
A morning in the life of us.

As usual Mae woke up super early like the true farmer she is! We checked on the batch of candles that Dan made last night including our yummy layered smores candle. I set Mae up with a silly youtube video of cartoon animals slopping around in the mud (her laughter at this video is so animated and silly) so that I could let the chickens, ducks and Matilda the Saint rabbit outside and throw the goats more hay. Mae does best if we keep busy, so to work we went cheese making, freezing homegrown kale, dehydrating bananas and blanching our own summer...
