Busy days.

Ok....so yea it's been a while since we blogged. Lots going on. We had two very successful events last weekend that have kept us busy along with Mae and her antics and the animals with theirs. We are sad to announce the passing of our sweet silver laced Wyandotte which was part if a small flock that we took on from a family in need. We take every loss very personal and will miss her dearly. We are trying to dry Marilyn out for the winter and are continuing to get a bountiful supply of milk from Etta which we...

Meet Etta Jo

Meet Etta Jo.  She is a Nigerian Dwarf cross goat in full milk that we were able to welcome into our farm.  We will be introducing her to the other girls over the next few days! This week has been very busy.  We are finishing up some candles, salves, and lip balms for our events this weekend.  We have launched two new lip balm flavors; Bubble Gum and BubbleMint.  I will say the BubbleMint is absolutely my favorite.  Starts nice and sweet with a bubbly flavor, and has you thinking for about 2 minutes "where the heck is the mint?"...

Farm to farm table.

Today was a good day.  Mae slept well, we all slept well.  We woke up about 6, maybe a little after.  Morning chores and a breakfast made up of eggs from our girls and cheese and milk from Marilyn, along with scallions from our garden.  Very tasty.   We all got cleaned up and got dressed for church.  Mae loves church.  Mostly because she gets to go and play in the playroom for an hour with some of the other kids from church. After church we came back home and had peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for lunch.  Then some...

Cheese please.

Mae slept all night in her own bed and Marilyn blessed us with a beautiful amount of milk last night to make cheese today! On that note we figured we would share how we make soft farm cheese, which can be made with cows milk from the store too. Seriously though who wants store bought milk when you can have fresh goats milk to use? RecipeWe put 1qt of fresh raw goats milk in a large sauce pan on medium heat, stirring frequently and checking the temperature often. Once the milk reaches a temperature of 185 we take it off...

Some play on a farm.

Up at 7 this morning but Mae was pretty fussy all night, woke up talking about it being winter time and snow on the ground. Beth went to get the animals taken care of and milk Marilyn. While Beth was milking Marilyn she was thinking about the Stafford Farmers Market coming up next Saturday. Will it be busy? Will people like the  Spiced Apple Cider and Pumpkin Crunch Cake or Smores candles? Her thoughts were interrupted by Lila our wild child of a goat barreling into the garage. She has separation anxiety when Marilyn is away from her, and she...
